What we're working on
Over the 2016/17 year, Apricity is partnered with the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts – otherwise known as “the Nina.”
About the Nina
The Nina is home to one of Edmonton’s most unique art collectives, made up of more than 170 artists with developmental disabilities. At its core, the Nina strives to make art accessible to everyone, particularly those who face barriers to artistic expression. Its mission:
Supported by professional, practicing artists, members of the Nina collective participate in drawing, painting, clay, fibre arts, performing arts and more – whatever medium allows them to tap into their creative spirit.
Work produced by artists is then featured regularly at the Nina’s in-house Stollery Gallery, and some has even been shown throughout Canada and the world.
When an artist sells a piece, half the proceeds go directly to them, providing valuable income and validation as an artist. The other half goes back into the collective.
